Idiopathic myelofibrosis

A progressive, long-term disease wherein the bone marrow is replaced by fibrous tissue and blood is generated in organs such as the liver and the spleen rather than the bone marrow. This disease is characterized by an enlarged spleen and progressive anemia. It is also known as chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis, agnogenic myeloid metaplasia, primary myelofibrosis, and myelosclerosis with myeloid metaplasia.
