Hyperopia

Clinical name for farsightedness. People with hyperopia have difficulty focusing on items that are close to them, like words in a book. Those with severe cases of hyperopia can also have problems seeing things far away. Hyperopia usually occurs with advancing age; half of all people over the age of 65 have hyperopia.
