Hereditary angioneurotic edema

A rare type of edema, due to a deficient or inactive C1 esterase inhibitor, wherein erythema sets in before edema and involves the upper respiratory tract or the gastrointestinal tract. This condition typically starts in childhood and may become worse in adolescence.
