We have a new, limited edition of coffee from Raven’s Brew called Cora Coffee. This coffee blend is produced by a small cooperative of indigenous people called Cora who live in the remote regions of the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.
About six years ago, a group of Cora decided to grow coffee. They organized into a cooperative, researched coffee growing, then started a nursery for their coffee plants. They now have 129 hectares under cultivation in coffee with a little over ¾ of that being certified organic. The coffee is grown high in the mountains around Presidio del Reyes. It’s transported by horseback to various processing centers, then finally brought to Compolstela for export.
This is the coop’s third year of production. And Raven’s Brew was so impressed with the quality that they bought the whole harvest! Cora Coffee is characterized by blueberry and floral nuances, silky body and lavender finish.
Raven’s Brew Coffee® works directly with the importer to support a unique, quality-based profit-sharing plan which is bringing improved processing tools and living standards to this area.
Raven’s Brew is dedicated to coffee quality, sustainability and culture. They use shade-grown, organic and naturally-processed coffee beans in most of their blends, and they support small family growers through their buying practices. They also participate in renewable energy and environmental conservation programs in all their locations as an act of love for this small blue planet.
